Paint vs reface vs replace: the real comparison
Painting. New color, new finish, same cabinets. Takes under a week. Costs a fraction of the alternatives. Best when boxes are solid and the layout works. That describes most Fairfax kitchens.
Refacing. New doors and drawer fronts on old boxes, plus veneer on the frames. New door style, same layout. Costs several times more than paint. Makes sense when you hate the door style but love the boxes.
Replacing. Everything new. New layout possible. Costs the most by far, takes the longest, and you lose your kitchen for weeks. Makes sense when the layout is wrong or boxes are shot.
The decision in one question
Do you like your kitchen's layout? Yes — paint or reface. No — replace. Then: do you like your door style? Yes — paint. No — reface.
Most of our customers land on paint. Solid boxes, good layout, dated color. That is the paint bullseye.
When we talk you OUT of paint
Swollen particle-board boxes. Doors that will not stay shut. A layout you hate. In those cases paint is lipstick. We tell you, and we do not take the job.
Call (301) 679-9193. We will tell you which of the three fits.
